Part of what makes birth so incredible is that it is at the same time mysteriously transcendent and deeply earthy. Yesterday's image captured the former feeling for me and today's captures that very bodily and messy aspect -- which sometimes gets lost in our over-sanitized and over-medicalized way of doing birth -- but which is equally beautiful.
